FIGHTING FOR WHAT’S RIGHT
HERE FOR YOU
Mesothelioma is a deadly cancer caused by asbestos exposure—often decades after initial contact. It most commonly affects the lining of the lungs and chest cavity. While mesothelioma does not discriminate, Tennessee law allows victims and families to seek justice—and we’re here to help.
If you’ve been injured by asbestos, you may be feeling betrayed, confused, frustrated, and worried about what to do next. Our team at Phillip S. Georges, PLLC understands what you’re going through. As part of the small percentage of lawyers who handle mesothelioma cases, Attorney Phil Georges has worked with many mesothelioma victims just like you to gain the justice and compensation they deserved. He knows what you’re going through, and most importantly, he wants to help.
A LOOK INTO Mesothelioma Laws
TENNESSEE
Tennessee gives you just one year from diagnosis to file a personal injury lawsuit and one year after death to file a wrongful death claim. These deadlines are strict and final. The one-year limit begins from the date of diagnosis or death—not the date of exposure—to acknowledge the disease’s long latency period.
Defendants must be properly identified within 30 days of filing, or claims risk being dismissed. Tennessee’s “bare metal” defense may shield certain manufacturers unless directly tied to asbestos-containing products.
Another important consideration lies in victim responsibility. If a victim is found 50% or more responsible for their injury, they may be barred from recovering damages.
